Tape In Hair Extensions

Tape in hair extensions, I’m sure you’ve heard that tape in hair extensions is all the rave right now in 2022, whether you’re white, black, Asian or Hispanic every nationality is desiring and even fighting over tape in hair extensions. I’ve seen more and more suppliers provide tape in at wholesale prices than I ever have before. So, what is the deal with tape in hair extensions? Well, I’ll do my best to explain.

Tape In Hair

First you should know that tape in hair extensions originally originated from the continent of Europe. Generally speaking, African American women have adored hair extensions which allows them to sew the hair extensions into their heads using a technique called weaving, but with European’s hair being so straight and so very slick it is much more difficult for them to braid their hair up with it staying in place and installing a weave hairstyle. In comes tape in hair extensions where they can leave their hair exactly the way they want it but just apply tape in Hair just for more volume and in many cases more length. These hair extensions were not designed like the weave method as the weave method was originally designed for permanency or at least with the idea of long-term wearing. however, tape in hair extensions are for the short term, they are made for a night out on the town, or an engagement such as prom. These hair extensions are meant to leave in only for a short period of time of a few days at the most. Now that we know more about this let’s look at some of the downfalls or the cons of tape IN hair.

Tape In Hair

One of the major reasons that African American women did not originally wear tape in hair extensions was because as we mentioned above it was very temporary only lasting a couple to a few days, along with that tape in hair extensions generally were only bone straight, there was no texture to them, no body wave, no deep curl, and certainly no kinky curl. Because of this along with the fact that African American hair does not have as many follicles as Asian hair or even European hair, so tape ins damaged African American hair at the root causing an even bigger issue when all was said and done.

However, times have changed, and all forms of technologies have been created to allow even African American hair with limited follicles to wear tape in, in many different textures for as long as two to three weeks instead of just a few days. With clip in hair extensions, they must be removed the same day, they can be reinstalled the following morning but when it’s time to go to bed you’re generally supposed to remove clip-in extensions. This is where they really shine as you don’t have to remove them, they’re completely flat and you can sleep on them, and with new technology allowing them to last up to two or three weeks along with new textures and colors, tape ins have become a highly desired new modality to install hair extensions amongst African American women.

Here is another caveat: a stylist is not really needed. of course, if you do not have the patience nor the skill of a steady hand you can always go to a stylist but anyone that is used to doing their own hair daily can take the time to put an hour into installing tape in extensions themselves which will give them more volume and if desired more length.

There you have it now you know more about tape in extensions and why they are all the rave, give it a try as it won’t hurt, I have some in now.
